Indian Defense Ministry Presents China With Anti-SARS Medicine

Since the Defense Ministry of India provided the first lot of anti-SARS medicine to China on May 2, Indian Armed Forces Medical Services and Defense Research & Development Organization has gathered another lot of anti-SARS medicine for one lakh people within one month. The one crore rupees (about two million RMB) worth of medicine were handed over to Chinese Ambassador to India Mr. Hua Junduo by Lieutenant General B. N. Shahi, Director General of the Armed Forces Medical Services & Senior Colonel Commandant on behalf of the Indian Defense Ministry on June 6.

On the presentation ceremony, Lieutenant General Shahi congratulated the Chinese people on their achievement in the fight against SARS. He hoped that this medicine would contribute to the preventing and curing of SARS. Ambassador Hua appreciated the concern and supports the Indian government and people rendered to the Chinese people's fight against SARS. He believed that the aid from the Indian people would further deepen the friendship between the two nations.
