On the evening of June 31, Senior Colonel Li Mengyan, Military, Naval & Air Attaché to India and Mrs. Li Mengyan gave the Army Day reception in New Delhi to mark the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army (PLA).

Mr. Hua Junduo, Chinese Ambassador to India and Mrs. Hua Junduo, Colonel Huang Qin, Deputy Military, Naval & Air Attaché and other Chinese diplomats attended the reception.

High-ranking officers from the Indian Armed Forces present at the reception were: Lt. Gen. S S Chahal, PVSM AVSM. VSM, Commandant of National Defence College, Air Vice Marshal P K Mehra, VM, Assistant Chief of the Air Staff, Commodore Lalit Kapur, Deputy Assistant Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, Brig. T P S Bakhshi, SM, Deputy Director General of Military Intelligence. Mr. Mukhopadhaya G., Joint Secretary, Ministry of Defence, also attended the reception.

About 260 guests, including Lt. Gen. Niranjan Malik (Retd.), Chairman, Military Committee of BJP, Mr. Vijay Jolly, Vice President, BJP, Delhi Pradesh, Mr. Sitram Yechury, Politburo Member, Communist Party of India (M), Mr. D Raja, Secretary, National Council, Communist Party of India, some ambassadors, military attaches and deputy military attaches of foreign missions in New Delhi, Indian eminent and friendly personages from various circles, attended the Army Day reception.
