Beijing Review


Beijing Review is a weekly news magazine reporting on developments in China’s political, economic, social and cultural life and laying out China’s point of view on major issues.

Readers consider Beijing Review a mouthpiece of Chinese policy. It offers a wealth of information of uniquely presented, and its timely reports and commentaries on world events reflects the opinion of the Chinese government and experts.

Founded on March 4, 1958, it is now published in English, French, Spanish, Japanese and German and distributed in over 150 countries. At the beginning of 1996, an electronic version of the English edition was placed on the Internet. Beijing Review has entered main international distribution channels, and its readers are generally well-placed-government officials, business magnates, intellectuals, foreign business organizations and institutions present in China.

Regular sections include To Our Readers, Cover Story, Events/Trends, World Affairs, Snapshot, Society/People, National Report, Tourism, Business/Trade, Document, Culture/Science and Press. Emphasis is placed on content and quality of articles and photographs.

All five editions of Beijing Review are basically the same, but each has its own special articles to suit the needs of different language communities. It often invites foreign journalists and scholars to visit and make suggestions, and at the same time learn about China. It promotes friendly exchanges and cooperation with foreign countries and is known as a “a window on China, a friend to the world.”
