Ambassador Sun Zhenyu Attends the 39th Session of ITCB Council of Representatives

A seven-member Chinese delegation led by Chinese Ambassador to WTO Sun Zhenyu attended the 39th Session of the International Textiles and Clothing Bureau (ITCB) Council of Representatives which was held in New Delhi from April 4 to 7, 2004 at the invitation of ITCB Council of Representatives. During the Session, the Chinese delegation exchanged views extensively with representatives from other countries on the issues concerned after the cancel of quota restrictions by the end of 2004. Representatives of 24 member states attended the Session. Chairman of the Textiles Monitoring Body (TMB) of the WTO and representatives of the Textiles Division of the WTO, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and International Trade Center, the United States Association of Importers of Textiles and Apparel, the US National Retail Federation, the EU Foreign Trade Association, Cologne/Brussels, the Swedish Textile Importers' Association were invited to attend it. The topics included administrative arrangements, lifting quotas restrictions by the end of 2004, the impact of EU enlargement on the trade of textiles and clothing, tariffs and non-tariffs measures and anti-dumping rules of textiles and clothing in Doha Round negotiations. The Session adopted the New Delhi Communique.
