BEIJING, July 24 (Xinhuanet) -- China will work with India to build a long-standing, stable and healthy relationship between the two countries, said Wu Guanzheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
Wu spoke on Thursday at a meeting with Sitaram Yechury, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
Wu said the CPC values its friendship with the Indian party, and will make positive efforts to advance friendship and cooperation between the two parties.
He said China and India are big developing countries and the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence sponsored by the two nations have laid a solid foundation for the sound development of China-Indian relations.
The declaration on principles for relations and comprehensive cooperation between China and India signed during Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's China visit in June this year marked a new phase of overall development in bilateral relations, noted Wu.
Yechury said the two peoples boast a deep-rooted traditional friendship, and further strengthening bilateral friendship and cooperation is conducive to their economic and social development, peace and stability in Asia, and multi-polarization.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) attaches great importance to the friendly contacts with the CPC, and will make joint efforts with all Indian communities to promote bilateral friendship, said Yechury.
He looked forward to greater achievements for China in building socialism with Chinese characteristics.
