Shaanxi is an inland province of China and covers an area of 205,600 square kilometers. It measures 900 kilometers from north to south and 360 kilometers from west to east. The province has three landforms: the Loess Plateau in the north, the Central Shaanxi Plain in the center, and the Qinling and Daba mountainous areas in the south. Shaanxi has a temperate semiarid climate in the north, a temperate semi-humid climate in the center, and a subtropical semi-humid climate in the south. The mean annual temperature is 13.6 ºC, the mean annual precipitation is 648 mm, and the province averages 218 frost-free days a year. Shaanxi has 7 cities-Xi'an, Baoji, Xianyang, Tongchuan, Weinan, Hanzhong, and Yan'an-directly under the jurisdiction of the provincial government; the Ankang, Shangluo, and Yulin prefectures; and the Yangling Agricultural Demonstration Zone.
