On June 26, 2003, a China-India Information Industry Forum organized by Indian "National Associations of Software and Services Corporations' was held in Shanghai. The theme of the forum was "India & China: Challenges and Opportunities in IT Sector". Visiting Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee delivered an address and said in IT sector, China is one of the world leaders in hardware industry, and its software development is surging ahead. China and India should seize opportunity and enhance the cooperation in IT sector. About 500 Chinese and Indian commercial and industrial people attended the one-day forum to discuss how to enhance cooperation between the two countries in telecommunications, software, banking and financial services as well as IT education sectors.
