On July 14, 2008, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with Tajik Ambassador to China Rashid Alimov. Yang made positive comments on the achievements scored in the development of China- Tajikistan good-neighborly relations of friendly cooperation, saying that China attaches great importance to ties with Tajikistan. China is ready to continuously build up mutual political trust, expand pragmatic cooperation in all areas and keep closer coordination within the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other multilateral frameworks. China thanks for Tajikistan's support of the Beijing Olympic Games and is ready to enhance cooperation with the Tajik side on the Olympics security, he added. Alimov said developing ties with China is one of the priorities of the Tajik foreign policy, and Tajikistan firmly supports China's positions on issues concerning Taiwan, Tibet and combating the "East Turkistan" terrorists. Tajikistan is ready to deepen cooperation with China on politics, economy, trade, transportation and security and push bilateral ties to one new level after another. Alimov emphasized that the Tajik side speaks highly of China's enormous efforts in hosting the XXIX Olympic Games and wishes the games a great success. |
