On September 27, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun met in the Foreign Ministry with Bagudu Hirse, Nigerian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, who is here to attend a trade forum between China and Economic Community of West African States (CEDEOA). During the meeting, Zhai said the development of bilateral ties has maintained a sound momentum in recent years, with the establishment of a strategic partnership and new achievements of cooperation in all areas. China thanked for Nigeria’s precious support for China’s quake relief efforts and hosting of the Beijing Olympic Games and is ready to make joint efforts with Nigeria to push bilateral friendly cooperation to a higher level.
Hailing the time-honored history of Nigeria-China friendship, Hirse reviewed the important achievements made during Nigerian President Yar'Adua’s visit to China this February. He reaffirmed that the Nigerian government will continue to adhere to the one-China policy. Hirse also congratulated China on its successful hosting of the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics, as well as the successful launch of Shenzhou-7 manned spaceship. |
