On April 7, 2009, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks with visiting Kyrgyz counterpart Kadyrbek Sarbaev. Both sides had an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral ties as well as international and regional issues and reached broad consensus. Yang said Sino-Kyrgyz relations had developed at a fine momentum with close high-level contacts, increasing political mutual trust, and fruitful cooperation in all areas. China is ready to work with Kyrgyzstan to comprehensively implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and agreements signed between both sides. He urged both sides to strengthen bilateral good-neighborly and friendly cooperation, deepen cooperation in economy and trade, transportation and communication, maintain close coordination under multilateral frameworks, such as the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and jointly combat the "three forces" including "East Turkistan", in a bid to push bilateral ties and cooperation in all areas to a new level. Sarbaev said Kyrgyzstan attached great importance to ties with China, firmly adhered to the one-China policy and supported China's principled position on issues relating to Taiwan and Tibet. Sarbaev said Kyrgyzstan would maintain close cooperation with China in cracking down on the "three forces" including "East Turkistan". Sarbaev also expressed his country's wish to deepen pragmatic cooperation with China and push forward bilateral relations. |
