On April 8, 2009, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks in the Chinese foreign ministry with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nepal Upendra Yadav. Yang noted that China-Nepal relations enjoy a sound momentum of healthy and stable development in recent years. The two countries maintain frequent exchanges at all levels, fruitful cooperation in various fields and close communication and cooperation on international and regional issues. China is ready to make joint efforts with Nepal to strengthen the friendly exchanges and cooperation at all levels and in various fields and realize mutual benefit and common development. Yadav said that Nepal and China always respect, understand and support each other. The bilateral relations are showcase of peaceful coexistence and friendly cooperation between neighboring countries. Nepal is willing to maintain the high-level mutual visits and reinforce the mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields with China and further enhance the close and friendly relations between the two countries.
Yang thanked the Nepalese side for its consistent position of supporting China on Tibet-related issues. Yadav reiterated that the Nepalese government resolutely follows the one-China policy, believes Tibet is an inalienable part of China’s territory and will never allow any force to use Nepalese territory to engage in anti-China activities. |
